As competition increases, effective and manageable product representation has become a necessity for businesses operating on any scale
Long Beach, CA - In response to Google's May 3rd announcement that unique product identifiers will be required for all products in their shopping feed, GfK Etilize has bolstered their Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) coverage to 100% to accommodate these customers.
Unique product identifiers are codes that are associated with specific manufacturer SKUs and Google has now made it mandatory to provide this type of information to them. This also includes the Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN), which to a large extent are also maintained in the Etilize catalogueue.
Manufacturer part numbers are significant on a global scale as they allow for matching of all products to a specific manufacturer. MPNs are used in conjunction with Brand names to sync up SKU data throughout the distribution channel. Merchants looking to sell goods that can be matched to a unique product identifier will be required by Google to do so. "We are seeing accurate product information become a must-have for companies around the world to sell their products on portals like Google Products," says Markus Schuster, Vice President Sales and Marketing Europe at Etilize. "As competition increases, effective and manageable product representation has become a necessity for businesses operating on any scale."
